I had no trouble with the size. The cups slipped easily into one of my pans. On my other pan, the cups were a little tiny bit big, but adding batter to the cup eased the cup right down into the pan, so no problem. The colors do darken some when baked, some from the oil/butter of the batter, some from just the heat of the oven......after all, these are just paper. And 'just paper' is what i wanted...not heavy duty and not any foil.
